Eliminating Blackheads

Most people experience blackheads at some point in their lives. Although they are annoying, most blackheads are not painful. Nonetheless, it is important to eliminate them to keep the skin clean and healthy.

Blackheads form when a skin pore becomes clogged. Skin pores contain a single strand of hair, a hair follicle, and a sebaceous gland. Typically, the gland produces oil, which is then stored in the hair follicle until it is needed to moisturize the skin.

Sometimes, the oil doesn't flow outward, and, instead, it becomes trapped in the follicle. When this happens, the pore becomes clogged with oil as well as dead skin cells. As the clog ages, the oil turns darker in coloring, which is why this type of acne gets the name "blackhead."

Avoiding blackheads is usually easier than getting rid of them. The best way to do so is to clean the skin thoroughly at least once a day. If you are prone to blackheads, you should take the time to clean your skin at least twice a day using a specialized acne cleanser.

At least once a week, you should use a mud mask to help rid your pores of unwanted oils and dead skin cells. If you are having a severe blackhead breakout, you can use a mud mask every day to help eliminate them from your skin. Unfortunately, severe breakouts often require a trip to the dermatologist for specialized medication, especially if the infections become painful.

While you can use soap and water to cleanse your skin, products designed to clear up acne will produce positive results faster. Exfoliating the skin to hasten the removal of dead skin cells is another strategy you can use to clear up facial acne because this process helps to keep the pores unclogged.

If you experience blackheads, it can be unpleasant. Fortunately, this type of acne isn't usually painful, and it is easy enough to clear up in most cases. To eliminate this kind of acne, you should keep the skin clean and take steps to treat your blackheads as soon as they appear.
